How to Use These Inspirational Quotes
So you’ve read the quotes and feel great. Now what?
What can you do now so that these quotes have a more lasting impact than this motivated feeling you have now?
Here are a few ideas for you 🙂
Coaches and Parents
Coaches and parents can use these quotes in the same way. The only difference is that coaches will use them for an entire team, whereas parents only utilize these ideas with their own children. Here they are…
~ Send athletes to this page ~
Have your players/child(ren) visit this page and read through the inspirational quotes. Let them choose 2-3 of their favorite quotes and write them in their own style (i.e. in their own colors, own lettering, etc) on a blank piece of paper or small poster board. Encourage them to have fun with it! They can make it colorful and big enough to read easily. This activity gives them time to really connect with and “digest” the quotes they choose vs just reading them and forgetting them.
You can also have them choose one of those inspirational quotes and have them memorize it. Give them a few days, maybe even a week, and have them share their favorite inspirational quote with you from memory once that time period is up.
When I did this with my team, I gave them the “assignment” on Monday. I let them know I’d be asking them about their favorite quote on Wednesday (game day). Before we started our pre-game warm-up on Wednesday, I took time to approach players one by one and asked them to share their quote with me. They had fun choosing and sharing their favorite quote and it helped put them in a positive frame of mind going into the game.
~ Make a Softball Folder ~
Make folders for your player(s) to keep useful articles, “assignments”, goals, and other important paperwork in. Players enjoy having a designated place to keep these things. It’s a great resources they can lean back on it any time they need to re-focus, review goals, or get inspiration. It becomes a personal, tangible, resource they can look over at their leisure in the privacy of their own home. Feel free to include articles from this site to include in your sports folder.
Read through the inspirational quotes above and choose a few of your favorites. Post your favorite inspirational quotes in areas that you view frequently.
Here are a few suggestions that may work for you:
- Near your bed – you’ll see it every night before you go to sleep and every morning when you wake up in the morning
- On the ceiling above your bed – it’ll be the last thing you see before you go to sleep and the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning
- Next to your bathroom mirror
- First page in the binder you use most for school
- On the cover of your school binder or school books
- In your school locker, athletic locker, or both
Another fun thing to do is turn your favorite quote into an image and post it to your social media account(s).
Step 1: Choose one quote a week
Step 2: Copy it (including who said it)
Step 3: Paste the quote into JusGramm, InstaQuote, Canva or your favorite image making app/website and turn it into an image.
Step 4: Post your quote of the week to your favorite social media account(s).
