I have a confession to make.
Just recently, I sat down and read through the feedback on my Think Like a Champ Journal … for the first time ever.
Some people loved it. A couple of people? Not so much. 😅
One of the biggest criticisms: “The prompts are repetitive.”
Another was that it wasn’t very “motivational.”
And honestly? That feedback helped me realize something important.
I still haven’t done a very good job of explaining what the journal was actually designed to do.
Think Like a Champ was never meant to be “motivational.”
It also wasn’t meant to hand your athlete a brand new thing to figure out every single day.
It was designed to be the mental version of practicing your fundamentals.
If you think about it, no one asks:
- “Why does my daughter have to throw with her partner every practice?”
- “Why does she have to field ground balls again?”
- “Why are we practicing the same skills we’ve done a hundred times?”
We already know the answer.
Repetition is how fundamentals become automatic.
The same is true for mental skills.
The four prompts in Think Like a Champ repeat on purpose because they’re meant to become your athlete’s mental fundamentals. Taking reps consistently is what makes them valuable. Just like with the physical skills of throwing and fielding, repetition is what turns a mental skill from something your athlete has to think about into something they simply do.
But here’s where it gets interesting…
Not every athlete needs the same kind of training every day. And repetition can get tedious and monotonous (even when it’s very much needed).
So if you’re looking for more for your daughter. Maybe her mental fundamentals are solid, and now you’re looking for different “drills” that challenge her in different ways …
That’s exactly where Confidence & Consistency comes in.
Instead of the same four prompts, it gives your daughter a variety of tools, exercises, and ways to strengthen her mindset. I’m also putting together a pack of 100 journal prompts she can pull from on any given day.
Different “drills.” Same goal: Helping athletes build confidence from the inside out.
Which one does your daughter need?
- Building the fundamentals? The Think Like a Champ Journal gives her simple, repeatable mental reps that stick.
- Ready to mix up the training? Confidence & Consistency adds variety and new challenges on top of that foundation.
Right now, Confidence & Consistency is still available as a Pay What You Can resource. So if you’ve been thinking about grabbing it, now is a great time.
