Instead of only focusing on the fact that they can’t do something, they need a way to train their brain to notice what DID go well, what IS working, and they CAN do vs just what they can’t.

- When did I feel at peace today?
- ​​​​​What brings me joy, makes me laugh, and helps me feel “lighter?”
They can start paying attention to what works for them and have room to write them down in the journal. This way, your child/team can begin to better understand what THEY need in order to make that shift from frustrated to calm, from discouraged to hopeful.

But this journal isn’t *only* about what’s good without ever addressing how your child/team can improve. The final prompt each and every day asks them to consider what could be better? What would they like to see go differently tomorrow?
Simply giving that kind of question some intentional thought can be the difference between making a positive adjustment or continuing to run into the same problem over and over and over again.Â
​​​​​​​That last prompt of the day gives them an opportunity to identify an area of improvement so that they can execute on it … even if they don’t know HOW they’re going to do that yet. Simply taking the time to reflect, identifying and articulating what it is you want to change, IS that first step to doing better. Â
